Xiangfan is a state-level history and culture city, centralarea of culture exchange and merge betweenchina’s north and south, and has a history of 2800 years. In the past, here was born Liuxiu,Guangwu Emperor in the Han dynasty; Zhu Geliang, Prime minister in the three-nation period once lead a seclusion life; Meng Haoran, a great poet in the Tang dynasty was bred up in Xiangfan. It has been “a key spot fought for by the militaries” since ancient times. After founding of the PRC, especially since the reform and opening up, great changes have taken place in Xiangfan. It’s a sub-central city constructed in Hubei, a winner of the title” CCTV China’s charming city” in 2004, ranking No.4 among “the most suitable cities for investment on Chinese mainland” on Forbes in 2005.
Located in the northern suburb of Xiangfan, Xiangfan Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone was among 53 state-level hi-tech industrial development Zones approved by the State Council in 1992. The Zone was merged with Former Xiangfan Automobile Industrial development Zone (provincial level) under approval of the Hubei Provincial People’s Government in 2005. The newly merged Xiangfan Hi-tech Zone administers 2 Parks, Hi-tech Park and Auto Park, with a total controlled area of 96 square kilometers and planned area of 29.41 square kilometers. It is adjacent to Xiangfan railway station and airport, four highways, Weifan, Xiaoxiang, Hanshi, Xiangjing, intersect in the Zone, state roads, No.316 and 207 cross in the Zone. It’s a gathering area of auto industries and military enterprises, with the highest density in technology and intelligence in areas neighboring Hubei, Henan, Sichuan,and Shanxi, and has a wide developing horizon and alluring prospect.
Shouldering a historical task of “developing high technology and realization of industrialization”, implementing the general strategy of “establishing the Zone with renovation, booming the Zone with projects, strengthening the Zone with industrialization, flourishing the Zone with opening up”, holding the development concepts of “taking over the high position, enlarging industries, extending associates and collective development “, basing on the platform of “ one Zone, two Parks”, Xiangfan Hi-tech Zone has gradually formed an industrial structure that is pioneered by high technology, taking automobile industries as the principal, focusing on auto power and key parts, optical- mechanical -electrical integration, new materials, astronautics and aeronautics ,associated by modern services. The Zone has 971 registered enterprises, 4 invested by global top 500, and 4 listed, attracting investment from more than 20 countries or regions including the U.S., Japan, French, German, Korea, South Africa, Hong Kong, Taiwan and etc. Xiangfan Hi-tech Zone has become an important economic growth pole in Xiangfan and hot land for investment with increasing potential in northwest Hubei.
